Russian 106A: Advanced Russian for Heritage Speakers

The course is aimed at “heritage speakers” of Russian, i.e., those who grew up speaking Russian in the family without a standard Russian educational background. The advanced course aims at building a sophisticated vocabulary and developing advanced reading ability, as well as fostering the students’ awareness of the Russian cultural canon and contemporary culture and society.  The emphasis is on idiomatic speech and usage: the course complements Slavic 103A and B devoted to the study of grammar.
