Dissertation: The Struggle with Nature: Socialist Realism in the Soviet Countryside
Lily has taught for the McNair Scholars Program at Central Washington University. She is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor of History at the University of Montana specializing in the cultural history of Russia, the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. Her first book (in progress) is a cultural history of collectivization, with a focus on how peasant and proletarian authors write about environmental transformation. Additional research interests include post-Soviet history, Russian literature, environmental history, visual culture, Balkan studies, art history, and film.
