Dissertation: Sightseeing: Writing Vision in Slavic Travel Narratives.
After completing her PhD, Stiliana Milkova taught as a Lecturer at UC Berkeley and served as Assistant Director of University of Michigan’s Center for Research on Learning and Teaching before obtaining a tenure-track position in Comparative Literature at Oberlin College.
Her scholarly interests include nineteenth-century Russian and Bulgarian literatures, Bulgarian folk tradition, contemporary Italian literature and culture, and the practices and representations of travel, tourism, and sightseeing, as well as literary translation. She has published articles and book reviews in this areas, as well as an answer key to Ronelle Alexander’s textbook Intensive Bulgarian and a workbook for Bulgarian language learners.
